OCR Level 2 National Award in Health and Social Care (06342)

Health and Social Care is a popular and successful option in Key Stage 4, suitable for students interested in pursuing a career in the medical profession, child care, social work, teaching, care work and many others.

The qualification is 100% coursework and encourages an engaging, practical approach to learning and assessment. Students complete three units of work:

Unit 2: Communicating with Service Users in Care Settings

Understanding the factors that support effective communication and applying these to a one-to-one and group role-play scenario.

Unit 3: Practical Caring

Helping service users maintain their dignity by supporting them to maintain their self-appearance, mobility, and the preparation and consumption of food and drink.

Unit 11: Practical First Aid in Care Settings

Students learn how to deliver basic first aid supported through written log-books, applying this knowledge to role-play scenarios. The students participate in a qualification delivered through St John Ambulance, learning about bleeding, CPR, recovery position, choking, Airway Breathing and Circulation (ABC) etc.
